Response encouraging for Chinaplas despite downturn

By Oh Wei Lun

Despite the worsening economy, Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, organiser of the 23rd edition of Chinaplas said they have received encouraging response from local and international buyer delegations.

This year, trade associations in Hong Kong like the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Hong Kong Plastic Material Suppliers Association will be participating in Chinaplas. Some of the Hong Kong exhibitors include LK Machinery, Chen Hsong, Ngai Hing Hong, Akei, and Wutung.

International overseas trade chambers and plastics associations delegate groups will also be attending. They hail from countries such as Brazil, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam.

Mr Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, announced that this year’s exhibition will gather over 1,800 exhibitors, 11 country and regional pavilions and is expected to attract over 70,000 visitors. Chinaplas 2009 will span over 140,000 sq m of exhibition space with a record-breaking 10 themed exhibition zones.

One of the new themes for the Plastic Building Materials Pavilion is the “Reconstruction of 512 Sichuan Earthquake” display. Diverse uses of plastics for households and construction, such as plastic pipes, plates, foaming materials, windows, doors, etc will be featured. It will provide an ideal sourcing platform for plastic building materials.

Mr Fu An, President of Guangdong Plastics Industry Association, said: “The newly established Plastic Building Materials Pavilion has drawn attention from the plastics futures exchanges in China. To echo the launching of PVC (the major plastic building materials) future in China, Dalian Commodity Exchange has taken the lead to organise a plastics future zone.”

In conjunction, a briefing on investment opportunities in Post-earthquake Reconstruction and Suppliers Sourcing of Sichuan Province, and the forum on Investment in the City of Plastic Building Materials Industry in China will be held.

Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, said: “The exhibitors understand that during economic downturns, a solid business foundation is the key for survival. The exhibitors are aware that expanding the client base and building business relations through effective channels will prepare them for a better future development. In view of the sizable show scale, comprehensive exhibits and high degree of internationalisation, I believe that Chinaplas will again serve as the barometer of the plastics and rubber industries.

Chinaplas 2009 will be held from May 18 to 21, 2009. For more information please visit www.ChinaplasOnline.com.
